Moore’s Law and The Future of Health Care by Wayne Caswell

As founder and senior editor of Modern Health Talk, I see the future of mHealth as less about Mobile health and more about modern healthcare that includes all sorts of solutions for addressing demographic shift of retiring baby boomers and the resulting doctor shortage. These solutions include mobile technologies (smartphones & tablets) and big broadband support of high-def video calls with medical imaging, as well as new delivery options such as retail clinics and insurance-funded home care (and home modifications), remote sensor monitoring, healthcare robots, Watson-like cloud services, new laws & regulations, support of family caregivers, and more.

Speaker Bio for Wayne Caswell:

Wayne Caswell is the founder & Senior Editor at Modern Health Talk, and writes about health reform, the future of healthcare, and tech solutions for independent living to help seniors age-in-place. Wayne has also recently launched Intelligent Sleep, a sleep wellness & brain health center, to improve the health, safety and performance of people who don't sleep well.

Wayne held leadership positions in industry groups developing Wireless and Home Gateway standards and on the FCC Consumer Advisory Committee. He successfully lobbied the Texas legislature to protect the rights of municipalities to install public Wi-Fi networks, co-founded a nonprofit homeowner advocacy to enact new consumer protection laws and abolish an abusive state agency, and founded Modern Health Talk, where he writes about health reform and technologies for aging-in-place. He is a long-time advocate of big broadband and fiber-to-the-home because of its role in telemedicine, telework, distance learning, e-commerce, and e-government. Wayne has previously worked at Dell and IBM, where he helped launch the IBM PC.
